Ingredients
Serves 4–6
- 1 lb (500 g) ground beef
- 2 yellow onions, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, grated
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) crushed tomatoes
- 1/3 cup = 0,8 dl heavy cream
- 1/4 cup water
- Salt, to taste
- White pepper, to taste
- Paprika powder, to taste
- Turmeric, to taste
- Cayenne pepper (optional, for a little heat)
- 12–16 oz spaghetti or your favorite pasta
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet or pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onions, grated carrots, and a pinch of turmeric. Cook until the vegetables are soft and lightly golden.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
- Stir in the tomato paste and paprika powder. Mix well until the tomato paste is fully incorporated into the beef and vegetables.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and water. Bring the sauce to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Let the sauce simmer gently for another 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and white pepper to taste. Add cayenne pepper if you’d like a little extra warmth and spice.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti or pasta according to the package instructions.
- Serve the creamy meat sauce over the pasta and enjoy with a fresh, tangy salad on the side.
Storage Tips
This recipe is perfect for meal prep. If you’d like to make a larger batch, simply prepare the sauce as directed and remove a portion before adding the cream. Allow it to cool completely, then freeze it for later.
When you’re ready to serve it, thaw and reheat the sauce, stir in the cream, and let it simmer for a few minutes. The result tastes just as delicious as a freshly made batch.
